Pastoral Districts of Navarre

In 2019, pastoral districts (in Spanish, “UAP”) were established in the Archdiocese of Pamplona–Tudela, concentrating Navarre’s 700 parishes into 36 pastoral districts. The aim is, in essence, to work pastorally as if they formed a single parish. There should be a team of priests for the entire district and a single pastoral council should be created. Parishioners from all the towns should feel that they are part of the same circumscription. Juridically and economically, however, each parish maintains its autonomy.
Ecclesiastically, our pastoral district belongs to the Archdiocese of Pamplona, specifically in the Mountain pastoral area and the Archpriesthood of Aralar. Regarding civil territorial organization, we are present in ten municipalities of Navarre: LEITZA, ARESO, GOIZUETA, ARANO, ARAITZ, BETELU, LARRAUN, LEKUNBERRI, BASABURUA, AND IMOTZ.
At the moment, three pastors in solidum are serving in the aforementioned pastoral district: Jesus Mari Sotil, Santiago Garisoain, and David Galarza, and on weekends three other priests come to help celebrate Masses: Joxe Mari Aleman, Pako Beloki, and Peio Etxabarri.
